OTHER ACTIVITIES

SURF Hiriketiya Bay is unique in shape and topography making surf available approximately ten months of the year. During peak holiday seasons from Dec-Feb smaller swells from the west create a perfect beginners beach break wave and the occasional ride on the left point break. During shoulder season Aug-Dec the waves are at their best after a slight drop in midyear swell size creating a clean beach and left point break. During the middle of the year (when the crowds are away) larger southerly swells create some fun yet challenging waves right across the bay.

TO BOOK – Email info@resetretreats.co.uk marking the subject MARCH RETREAT.

ABOUT THE RETREAT

This weekend retreat will be held at The Lodges At New House Farm in Etchingham. Just one hour from Central London, The Lodges at New House Farm - a new luxury rural holiday destination - is set in the heart of the High Weald of East Sussex.

It is based around six lodges, in a modern rustic style, all with far reaching views of the High Weald – a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Central to The Lodges is a beautiful and extremely spacious, long, communal barn which also includes further accommodation facilities, and a huge kitchen, all designed to cater for large groups.

There is a heated outdoor swimming pool available, with it's own private gardens and terraces, and also a hot tub.

The lodges are set amongst 12 private acres of untouched rolling, rural landscapes. There is a walk along the beautiful banks of the River Rother, plenty of secluded spaces to relax in, wildflower meadows, streams, woodland walks and beautifully kept walled gardens. There are many local public footpaths leading from the property, across endless fields and forests, but the farm itself is entirely private.

They are hidden away at the end of a private lane, spreading from the peak of the south facing Rother Valley down to the banks of the River Rother. Located between Etchingham and Ticehurst, in East Sussex. It is one hour from London by car, or 75 minutes by train from Charing Cross, via London Bridge and Waterloo East stations - all going direct to Etchingham station. They are just 3 minutes drive from the station, or a short walk.

Shira Hess189_RT_FSP.jpg

ABOUT SHIRA

Shira trained in Vinyasa Flow with Claire Missingham and her classes remain rooted in this powerful system that synchronises breath to movement. The practice is strong, but the pace is manageable so you will mindfully and sustainably nudge your comfort zone. She draws on the rich world of yoga philosophy and is inspired by Buddhist psychology; so although you are likely to get a bit sweaty, yoga’s physical aspect is not experienced in isolation.

Hands-on assists are an integral part of her classes and will help you access deeper forms of each pose. Pranayama (breath), mantra and mudra (hand gestures) are woven into the asanas (poses), so at the end, after savasana (relaxation) you will feel renewed and awakened.

Shira’s background is in producing dance and theatre. What she aims to create in her classes is what she looks for in a piece of choreography; sequences designed to take you on a complete journey, leaving you feeling sthira (steady and stable) and sukham (light and ease-filled).

Transformational Breathing and Movement - Day Retreat For Mamas, Town Hall Hotel London

Screen Shot 2017-10-19 at 12.55.33.png

RESET, an urban day retreat at Bethnal Green’s Town Hall Hotel between 10am and 530pm on Sunday January 21st weaves breath and movement with delicious plant-based heathy food and goodies to enable mums to reset themselves for 2018 after a busy festive period.

To book, please go to https://ticketlab.co.uk/event/id/905 and book online. Please call 02035837530 with any queries.

Designed with mums in mind, you will be led through a series of yoga inspired movements and postures to help access a fuller respiratory system. You’ll start with a full Transformational Breath session followed by deep relaxation and a simple, short meditation. After a delicious vegan lunch, we’ll close the afternoon with a yin yoga practice and meditation led by Vanessa Bridgman to create space in the body by working with the deep connective tissue fascia - more rejuvenating than a nap. No yoga experience is required and you stay in postures for a longer period of time.

Breathing correctly is essential for feeling well. A full breath can help you feel more energised, less stressed and learning new breathing exercises can help you enjoy a deeper sleep. Everything you learn on the day can then be practiced at home.

Transformational Breath®, is a self-healing technique that helps people correct old unhealthy patterns of breathing and helps to access the full potential of their breathing system for better physical, emotional and mental well-being.  The connected pattern of conscious breathing is a natural, safe and easy –to-learn technique, which has proven to have many benefits almost universally, including increased energy, better immune response and increased ability to deal with stress in a positive way.

Diaphragmatic breathing is paramount to the Transformational Breath® process.  Encouraging a deep breath into the abdomen is not only relaxing; it’s been scientifically proven to positively affect the heart, brain, digestive and immune system. Once the breath is moving in the abdomen, the upper lungs can be activated so eventually the breath is full, connected and active.

Venue:  Town Hall Hotel, 8 Patriot Square, London E2 9NF

Cost:  £110. Early bird pricing of £90 if booked before December 31st

To book, please go to https://ticketlab.co.uk/event/id/905 and book online. Please call 02035837530 with any queries.

ABOUT VANESSA

VANESSA.jpg

The velocity of urban lifestyles led Vanessa to explore holistic pathways to that elusive balance. As the unneeded fell away in her search for steady footing, it was the constant of her yoga practise that steered the course towards a true knowing and contentment of self.

Vanessa aims to deeply connect people into the space of their bodies again with the use of emotive language, alignment awareness and an emphasis on the breath. Each class is a journey towards stillness, cultivating a sense of playfulness and curiosity to all that is encountered along the way.

Vanessa is a 200hr certified Yoga Alliance teacher with the World Conscious Yoga Family. Trained in Hatha’s tradition lineage, she incorporates the dynamacism of her vinyasa roots and the restorative learnings from Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra certifications for a truly authentic and energetically balanced practice.

Midwinter Mythical Flow and Vegan Supper with Tanja Mickwitz at 42 Acres, Shoreditch

Midwinter (1).png

A Very Special Midwinter Mythical Flow

What better time than a dark January night to gather round for storytelling, a warming Vinyasa practice followed by supper in great company. Come along to nourish soul and spirit with Tanja Mickwitz's much-loved Mythical Flow and the East of Eden community at beautiful 42 Acres in Shoreditch.

IMG_5562.JPG

Mythical Flow

Mythical Flow forms a full journey through mythology, yoga, mantra and mudra which will take you into a deeper understanding of yoga as well as yourself. The stories act as a mirror reflecting back at us how we choose to act within the stories of our own lives. The symbolism of the myths is really about what happens within ourselves and connecting to different deity energies allows us to reflect over how these different aspects of ourselves shape our behaviour and who we are in the world. Through the tools of practice we can invoke exactly what we need to act more skilfully and live more fully. And in addition to being a great tool for reflection these stories provide great fun as a backdrop to practice!

The Evening

The night will begin with Tanja gathering everyone around to begin the story and set the scene for the evening's tale. By candlelight we will then begin to move into our bodies, as Tanja leads us through an extended warming practice, letting the story guide the flow. As the story comes to a close, we will move into a deep and nourishing final relaxation.

Supper.jpg

Supper

Following practice, we will gather round once more for a delicious vegan supper from Tegan the Vegan, fellow E17 resident and vegan chef who believes 'being vegan doesn't have to mean missing out on all the good stuff'.

Expect food that will nourish the body and please the tastebuds.

To Book

The night promises to be a special treat. Come alone or with friends, and experience the perfect way to ground and slow down in the depths of midwinter.

£50. BOOK IN HERE.
